The Violet Project was created by Jenell Coleman, MD, MPH a board certified OB/GYN and the Division Director of Gynecologic Specialties at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and Saumya Sao, BA,  a research assistant with Gynecologic Specialties and aspiring OB/GYN.  I am currently a Student Intern for Violet, and I am working deliberately on the Media and Design team to empower young people to learn more about their health in a digital platform. I have the opportunity of providing reliable and accessible sexual and reproductive health information to young people in the Greater Baltimore area. I engage with young people in order to educate them on  sexual and reproductive health services (including condoms, menstrual hygiene products, and self-collect STI testing), and I distribute these products to low-income youth in John Hopkins clinics as well.
